Good Sturdy Microphone Stand
I got this stand for some heavy condenser microphones. It easily handles very heavy microphones. I was looking for an alternative to the big Atlas stands with the long boom and weighted base. This stand doesn’t have the weighted base but it does have a wide tripod base with lockable castors. It’s BIG. It has an enormous boom with a counter weight. It’s an excellent choice for drum overheads, room, piano, voice - anything really. It’s extremely flexible. It would probably not be a good fit in small home studios or small booths. The price is excellent. I haven’t had it long, so I may update this review if it falls apart quickly.

Incredible Preamp!
The GAP Pre-73 Premiere is an incredible preamp! Low noise, high gain with several options for additional sonic character. The “Low Z” button in particular is great for the character but also to increase the signal of the microphone. The “Air” switches are great for adding a little sparkle to the top end. The Carnhill transformers are what really make this unit pop! It adds just a little bit of saturation that makes whatever you’re recording sound fantastic! Does it sound exactly like a Neve 1073? No
Does it sound close enough? Yes
Does it sound good? Absolutely
I’ve used plenty of higher end gear to know from personal experience what good gear should sound like and this is it right here. In fact I prefer it over other higher end gear. Compared to say the Warm Audio WA73, the GAP Pre-73 Premier is just better and less expensive.

Definitely Better than the Scarlett.
It has all the io of the Scarlett and on paper the mic pres only have one more dB of gain. But the quality of the pres are very nice. They’re dead quiet. The “Air” feature is nice too. It add airy details without sounding harsh or artificial. And while 57dB of gain may sound skimpy compared to the 80dB you can get from Presonus, the pres on the Clarett sound better. I’ve never had to crank them all the way up anyway. Of course I don’t own a ribbon mic where I would need all that gain. I’d likely get a cloud lifter if I did.
Editing and mixing are crystal clear with lots of depth. With 10 analogue outputs, you can even mix in 7.1.2!
There are better interfaces out there but you’d have to pay at least twice as much to do better, such as Antelope or UA’s Apollo.
It serves my needs very well and I can’t complain much.
The one gripe is you can’t do zero latency monitoring. You can get really close. Close enough really, but not true zero latency.
Overall I’m very pleased with it.
