Retrofit your cabin air filter
1 of 1 found this helpful This is an excellent product for upgrading into the GM Cabin AC system. No, they do not come with a cabin filter from the factory. Yes, there is an actual place designed for the installation of the above filter. Yes, you can do it yourself. You must follow the instructions provided exactly step by step, you must be strong and patient to cut the plastic as directed. Take your time, don't do this in the summer or on a hot day or you will sweat your *** off. The kit comes with all the hardware you will need, screw and bottom plate. There is an actual slot for the hook on the bottom plate and an actual receiver hole to mount (opposite from the hook side) for the screw provided in this kit. Buy a brand new razor knife, heavy duty and strongly built. You will need to exert a lot of pressure to cut the hard plastic. Stay in the groove as directed. Use multiple strong strokes to deepen the cuts. Be patient. Take your time. Use a bright light source to guide your cuts. Be patient. Change the blade several times during the operation to ensure you are getting a good clean cut. Once you have done the installation as directed you will immediately see the benefit of this time consuming retrofit. No, you will not regret the time you spent. Yes, I said to be patient many times, just do it. Yes, I said you must be strong to cut the hard plastic. Yes, you can do it and you will love it. Take time to vacuum the cooling grid and clean with a wet rag and toothbrush once you have removed the indicated plastic before you install the filter. Now all you need to do is remember to buy a replacement filter from time to time. No, this doesn't mean you can ride around with the windows down. 2008 Escalade.
