Great photos, great battery life, and 29-continuous minutes of high-quality video-recording - I bought 2 for use on a video project and LOVE them! :)
A little-known secret about this inexpensive Nikon Coolpix S6300 is that it shoots great-quality video up to 29 minutes continuously - for as long as the battery lasts and till your memory card is full! Most movie shots don’t need 29 continuous minutes :) We bought 2 of these cute little cameras for a court case deposition instead, and alternated them shooting 29 minutes at a time with one camera while I downloaded the video from the other to the computer. I think if you keep it plugged into the AC charger you don’t have to worry about battery life, but upon receiving it I wanted to put the battery to the teat, and I videorecorded an hour on one battery charge on a 16mb memory card at VGA quality before the card was full. The camera does much higher quality video, but this deposition will be of some dude talking and most likely lying in response to questions :) so we do not need the HD settings for that :) As for regular photos, the battery life is great! Camera ks very versatils and adapts to a variety of bad lighting conditions :) Even has the ability to recognize and auto-focus on faces (which kinda creeps me out that the tech is this good in what’s considered a low-end point and shoot camera :) Great little camera, long battery life, intuitive to figure out - but in the website, the reviews, and even the manual that comes with fhe camera - no info on its GREAT 29-minute continuous video recording capability! Nikon forgot to tell you about this great secret extra feature but we’re using it for work and I love this camera - this is the third one I’ve bought, I prefer it to newer stuff and love it more than my dumb iPhone camera too :) Hope you get to love it too! :)
