Excellent Connection for Surround Sound System
2 of 2 found this helpful Learned a lot about surround sound systems recently and found that the amp/receiver is the key to success IF it (1) has the connections needed; (2) has the necessary power; and (3) gives you the capability to adjust and fine tune the performance of each speaker separately. This Onkyo unit scores on all three. Connected a Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 Surround Sound System and couldn't be happier with the results. (I read some of the older reviews about surround sound installations after I placed my order and have to say I was a little apprehensive. However, we had absolutely no issues. Everything connected and worked on the first try.) The feature I found most helpful was being able to adjust the levels and tones of each speaker, separately, with the remote. Adjustments were easy to make and fully visible on the TV screen. In addition, synching the sound to the lips of people talking was easily adjusted as well. And once fixed, it was spot on for any and all inputs. Power never an issue: the loudest we've had the sound is 54 out of 100. Very happy with this Onkyo receiver and the fact that we saved about $250 compared to the cost of a brand new unit. My wife and I both get more enjoyment out of watching movies and TV with sound that's clearer and stronger and surrounding us.

Excellent Surround Sound Performance for a Reasonable Price
5 of 5 found this helpful An excellent speaker system for a medium-sized room (ours is 18 X 12 = 216 sq.ft. and carpeted). Voices are clear, music is very good and the sub-woofer is robust. We were able to use the speaker wires already in place from a previous system; but if you're setting something up for the first time, you may have to buy some. Just check YouTube for some pointers if necessary. Given that the speakers received excellent ratings from virtually all reviewers back in the day, I learned that the key to success is the amp/receiver. I found an Onkyo TX SR393 on eBay and it's a perfect match. There were some Yamaha units on the list of possibilities too. Just review the photos carefully and make sure the connections on the back of the unit are the ones (and types) you need. (After reading a bunch of surround sound installation reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about making everything work. However, we had no problems whatsoever.) After the installation, I was able to adjust the the levels and tones of each speaker through the amp with settings displayed on TV. Also had to adjust the sound synchronization to match the person's lips; but once that was done, it applied to all inputs and could be left alone. The highest we've had the sound level is 54 out of 100. Overall, I'd say we saved a total of $300 - $450 on eBay compared to buying brand new components. Watching blu-rays, DVDs and TV is significantly more enjoyable with this system.

Great Display Platform
Perfect platform for displaying a colorful car that's on the smaller side. For example, it's holding my blue 1924 Bugatti Type 35 now; and also shows a red & white '57 Corvette very nicely. Can't support the heavier cars/trucks, however, without tipping. The bed slides backward to accommodate a longer car, but you'd have to either put some serious weight in the cab or prop up the bed with something. Front wheels don't turn but all roll very smoothly, so this would make a nice toy for kids or grandkids. The version with chrome grille is good-looking too.
