The Truth in Speckled Tales
As a child of immigrant parents, Eve Bates writes a compelling work of short stories,
combining Lithuanian folklore and memories of her childhood in New Jersey. In her
seventies Eve discovered her talent for writing while attending college. She demonstrates
in "Speckled Tales" a gift for description, perception into human frailties and achievements,
all presented with good humor and understanding. A fascinating collection.

Long Live Bag Balm!
My grandmother made a salve much like this one on her Franklin stove in the
early 1900's. I could not find her recipe or create anything similar to
what she made so easily. It was a miracle balm, good for many skin
problems, and I gave up hope to ever see the like. Then I discovered Bag
Balm, helpful for itchy and dry skin. It must be close to my grandmother's
homemade recipe and, in addition, helpful for farmers' needs for their cowherd.
Hence, the name "Bag Balm." It is indeed awesome; it has served my
family well now for several generations.
