Octave mandolin, short scale Irish bouzouki, made in Romania by Hora, solid wood

Good potential

The bouzouki was as expected. For this kind of price it seems that it would be impossible to build an instrument such as this in a finished state. I have built violins, guitars, mandolins, dulcimers and a banjo. The instrument I received was only moderately playable when I got it. The finger board was not flat. There was a 1/16th inch dip. The frets were unpolished. The bridge was so high that the upper frets could not be played in tune. All of the upper frets buzzed, Essentially the job of refining the action was incompleat. An instrument needs to be customized to a player's style. After making the necessary changes, the instument plays fine.
