I Love My New Mac Mini!
1 of 1 found this helpful My computer for the last 10 years has been a 2011 Mac Mini which served me very well. It was time for an upgrade as I could no longer upgrade the OS and various of my programs. Also being a senior citizen I'm on a budget. So when I saw this 2018 Mini with Core i3, 3.6 GHz and 128GB SSD at a reasonable price I jumped in. Not being a techie I'm a little challenged in set up and so forth, but it turned out to be very simple to load my files from my back-up Time Machine drive. My problem came when I tried to upgrade from Mohave the system it came with to Big Sur. After two hours of loading in the software, it told me I didn't have enough room to install! Yikes, what now. My mind ran to getting another external drive for all my files, etc. so I could leave the Mini as my boot drive. Fortunately, I called Apple Support first. They were extremely helpful and enabled me to compress and delete extraneous files to free up space. Big Sur (System 11) then installed seamlessly and the system runs like a top. I'm very pleased. It will serve me well. I would advise heavier users than me to get a bigger SSD drive or plan to buy a much cheaper external drive if you're a gamer or video editor as the 128GB version won't be enough for your needs. I love my Mini!
