Works well but has no display
This works well, but is less than ideally user-friendly. It has no display, so you need to have a TV connected to see the channel setting - obviously not a problem if you are watching live but a nuisance for recording. Also in its raw state as delivered, it insisted on showing subtitles, and would not remember that they had been switched off with the button on the remote; it took much experimenting in the depths of the menus to turn them off permanently - not made any easier by the very superficial instruction booklet which does not deal with such micro issues. So it serves its purposes but requires some patience, at least initially.

Light is not bright enough for easy reading
The light is barely strong enough to read anything even if held close to the paper. It might be OK for young people at the peak of their reading ability, but it is far too weak for older eyes (even on its highest setting). This is unfortunate because it is basically a clever design in other respects.

Works perfectly but cheaper than alternatives
Works perfectly and much cheaper than most alternatives. Perhaps the box component is a little larger than some alternatives but that scarcely matters.
