Good overview and reference
This was a required text for our Doc colloquium class. It's pretty general across different subject areas, but gives a good overview of what being a faculty member is really like. It also has some good advice for recent grads.

Good quality for toy

it's a textbook
I am a doc student who had to buy this for a stat class. It's pretty hard to read and follow along, but maybe that's just me. I certainly wouldn't buy this book for fun :)
