Display on my dashboard

2011 bmw 328..After I replace my old gas cap with this new one , couple hours later on my dashboard says “gas cap lose”. Not sure if the spring inside is bad, never had it happen with the old ones before,I replace it because I thought it was old so I throw the old one away.... would i recommend this?, not sure, for me going to stay with OEM didn’t know bmw is so sensitive with every parts..

This was a pretty good product flat against the wall which I like. But it didn't last that long before the unit starting to getting hot.. Replace the cord but that didn't help..
