GORGEOUS and INFORMATIVE
I could not be happier with this book! It is gorgeous, thoughtful and informative. Jane Davenport truly is an inspiration, as well as fantastic teacher. While I didn’t go to art school, I did go to school for art, and I was never taught how to I draw a face in depth, as this book illustrates. Highly recommend!

Surprisingly Disappointing and Surprisingly Great!
I purchased Jane Davenport Acrylic paint which comes with a brush. The paint is matte, opaque, creamy and gorgeous! The complimentary brush is fantastic for a craft quality brush. Sadly, these mermaid brushes are clearly not produced by the same manufacturer. They are very low quality, even the ferrule and crime are cheap tin and the brushes appear to be beat up in the package. The paint on the handles is roughly applied and bubbled. It looks as if it will chip off easily. The heads are not shaped accurately and the bristles are reminiscent of synthetic hog hair. I am not sure if this part is intentional. I suspect not, as Jane is quite thorough with her demonstrations. The packaging looks legit. Therefore, I do not feel these are knock off brushes. I will say that the mermaid tails will likely be effective.
Thus far, I have tried the flat brush for abstract background work, and worked surprisingly well. I was able to reshape it while wet. Upon drying properly, it held its shape!
Update, I tried the round brush and the bristles did not bounce back to retain a proper shape.
This made it difficult to produce nice curves. I will say, however, that after keeping the brushes in water while working, they held up great! They also were able to be reshaped upon drying. Still the round brush isn't quite precisely cut at the head/tip. The angular flat brush works just fine!
Conclusion, these are great brushes for the price point, and work fantastic for backgrounds. I love using them with the Jane Davenport Aquapastels! That said, I am not sure how long these will last when keeping them in water for long periods of time, etc. For me, throwing brushes away is more about environmental concerns, and inconvenience of having to track down and order more.

YAS! The Eraser Gods have ANSWERED!
Yes, the Eraser Gods have answered my prayers! Legit, hands down the best eraser I have ever used. I never liked sketching in pencil, or graphite, largely because of bad erasers. This eraser hits every minute detail without damaging the paper. It doesn't appear to leave any ghosting behind, either, and this is sketching with an H7 graphite pencil. Of course, I sketch lightly, as my intended use is for mixed media. Definitely, the answer for working on detailed areas such as eyes and hair.
Highly recommend!
