A great band at their peak! Buy it now!
This is yet another live issue, and it has some of the same songs as the rest, but what is different is that the band is extra hot. They are hitting their chops dead center and then some. It is recorded in 1976. Three years since the "Armadillo" show and they are three years tighter and much more polished. The musicianship is absolutely the most top notch of all the CC&LPA live issues (and I have them all). This is very apparent in the extra "sound effects" on "Hot Rod Lincoln" and "Cell Block No 9." Cody is very fun on this one and he had already started his little comic/drug/political extra vocals on "Hot Rod Lincoln" and "Smoke that Cigarette." Bill Kirchen's guitar work is razor sharp and Andy Stein's fiddles and horns are perfect. Bobby Black's steel work is better than ever. Norton Buffalo really adds with his harmonica, extra horns, and vocals. The late great Lance Dickerson was at the top of his game on the drums. The Ol' Commander's piano is superb. I think that his "Beat me Daddy, 8 to the Bar " on this CD is his best take ever. Billy Farlow, John Tichy and Bruce Barlow are all well represented also. "San Antonio Rose"," Big Mamou" and "House of Blue Lights" alone are worth more than the price of this CD, and "Cold Country Blues" is a very nice surprise that I've not found on any of the other releases. Another first on this one is the "lost" third verse on "Truck Driving Man." I had never heard that anywhere, by anyone. All in all, a great band, a great show, and a great CD!
By the way, Cody is touring with a new smaller band with Mark Emerick on guitar and they still put on a great show. If they come your way buy a ticket. It is definitely a great time. I saw them in Fall 2006 and it really was too much fun!

Very fun read for Willie fans
I really enjoyed this book. It really isn't "life changing" stuff. It probably wouldn't mean much to someone who wasn't a Willie fan. I love his sense of humor. The jokes alone are worth the price of the book. Willie is a very genuine, great person, and this book is a nice glimpse of the real Willie.
