Great Product
I've used the unit to transfer media from VHS to DVD. It works great. Very reliable, but I do use Verbatim discs. I started using Verbatim brand many years ago when using a Coby recorder to record and transfer media. I've never tried another brand in the Sony player after having difficulties with the Coby recorder. My husband has probably transferred media from 1000+ VHS tapes on to DVDs. He took a unit with him, when he was stationed in Germany. The unit is suppose to be dual voltage, but the unit did not work well in this mode. It worked best using a transformer. I've never tried the dual layer function. I have also purchased a different Sony recorder(older model) which worked well, too. I would never buy anything but a Sony model.
