Sonic, visual and tactile masterpiece!
For those of us that grew up with vinyl LP's, one of the negatives of the digital revolution was the loss of the LP art. It was part of the music. A jewel case with booklet is just not the proper substitute.
The age of the mini-lp has been around for about 10 years. While considered a novelty, mini-lp's are precise replicas of the original vinyl release. In many cases, the mini-lp's are printed on the same paper stock that was used for the LP covers. Usually included are the same inner sleeves (sometimes including advertisements from that era) and any insert (booklets, lyric sheets, photos etc.). Sometimes (but not always) the same disc label is reprinted on the CD.
Yes, the printing is tiny, even microscopic. But, if you enlarge the print (scan or magnifying glass), you can clearly read the print. A real testament to the advances and quality of printing over the years.
With this release you get the pictorial booklet that came with the LP. You get all of Roger Dean's incredible art and you get the obligatory lyric booklet from Japan (a nice bonus).
Why did I buy this particular version? One, mini-lp's fascinate me, having owned (or still have)the original release. The quality of the release is a sight to behold. Yes, these releases are expensive and not for the person not interested in the art of the LP. In the case of this particular release, a remastered version is not available domestically. This is the only way you can get the recording with the updated remastering.
Is it worth it? Yes. Sonically this is a revelation to a recording that was not known for it's audio quality, to begin with. The SHM-CD, plus the remastering is an audio treat.
Artistically, this live recording shows the group at its pinnacle of popularity and just prior to heading in other directions, musically. Virtuosity abounds from all the members. Alan White just replaced Bill Bruford on the drums and does a more than credible job. You do not miss Bill on these recordings. (A couple of track do have Bill playing, but are indistinguishable from Alan.)
A great recording (musically). A great release visually and tactily. A recommendation of the highest order.

An Overlooked Gem
Sigourney Weaver and Michael Caine have made a suspense thriller that will definitely keep your interest. I am not talking about what other reviewers have listed as gratuitous nude scenes by Ms. Weaver. The story is good, replete with international intrigue. Mr. Caine is very good in his role as an international lawyer who is in the midst of bringing Middle East peace. There are forces that do not want this to happen and are doing their best to thwart it from happening by planning to kill Mr. Caine.
Ms. Weaver is the unwilling pawn in this plot as she was interested only in surviving by whatever means necessary as she is studying international economics with a pittance of a stipend and resorted to being an escort in London, where she meets Mr. Caine and his antagonist. Hence, the scenes with nudity. They do not detract and add some realism to the story.
If you want a good movie to watch that is not too thought provoking, get this movie.

I am only reviewing this product from memory. I had this previously and it was a superb pressing. Unfortunately, I have not received this item, yet. I am guessing it has been held up from the delays in the mail
