network wanted show to flop
james arness is one of my favorite western actors but the produers of this show did not give him the special actors to support him like in gunsmoke or how the west was won so there is no chemistry between and it looked like the network wanted this show to fail from the start if they had the right people and network support this could had been a hit

missing doc and festus
this was entertaining for fans of gunsmoke but it ruins it for me having matt having a daughter he did not know was his after never having this in the original tv series and the charters doc and festus missing left a void I know milburn stone had passed away and ken Curtis had a salary dispute but overall I enjoyed these movies

great show the family can watch together
this show is the wholesome type of programing that all the family can watch together it shows how early settlers made a new life out west and how the younger children got in and out of trouble and the hardship they faced everyday very entertaining worth watching
