a must for a quilt history library
This comprehensive book is beautifully illustrated with pictures of quilts and many of their makers. In includes quilts made in Mississippi as well as those which migrated there. Extremely well documented. It tells a lot of the history of the state and its settlers as well as fascinating stories about the quiltmakers themselves. A gem of a book!

fascinating and unique
An amazingly detailed description of one of the earliest pieced patchwork. It isn't a quilt because no batting was used. English paper pieced by an unusual method. Very creative and artistic. This book is a must for anyone interested in the history of quilting. Very detailed descriptions of the blocks with construction techniques and alternatives.

amazing variety
I never knew there were so many wonderful breads in Italy. Each recipe had a lovely description and most some history. The best part is that most also have directions for making the dough by hand, by mixer and by processor. I thought making dough with a mixer was easy until I discovered the processor method. The process is a little different so the added specific information is very valuable. I originally took this book out of the library. When I marked the pages of recipes I wanted to copy I had so many I decided it would be better to just buy the book. The book has a newer edition but the old one is very similar and a better bargain if you can find it.
I would highly recommend this book even for beginning bread bakers.
