8 year old was in cosplay heaven
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this for my daughters 8th birthday as she is a huge Legend of Zelda fan, Ocarina of time was the game that got me through the horrendous morning sickness I experienced while I was pregnant with her and so it has always held special interest for her. Last Halloween she announced that next year she would like to be Link from Ocarina of Time and so I thought this would be a fun gift and something to get her excited for her costume which I have fun making each year and going all out. I decided to get a small wood treasure chest from hobby lobby to put it in instead of wrapping it so it would be in keeping with the theme instead of boring wrapping paper. the foam wound up fitting perfectly in the chest by some bizarre miracle of the universe. She pretty much thought I was a magical superhero for making that happen. When she realized that it was not just a prop but a real playable instrument her mind was pretty much blown. she was able to start playing it pretty much right away and with a little fiddling around and shifting of hand positions was even able to figure out a scale. She has now decided she will learn all the songs from the game. I am a happy mom the sound of the ocarina is better than her recorder, and expands the excitement of the video game beyond the bounds of a screen and into the real world! and to top it all off I have one less prop to design and create by halloween!
