Once upon a time
Once upon a time there was a world which is full of charming dowerless girls, of grim .but noble aristiocrats impeccably dressed , great sportsmen who never lose in cards, have great many romantic adventures but unattached heart- in the other words - the world of Georgette Heyer, full of good humor, excellent style, detailed knowledge of the fashion, language, and affair of the time. The "Talisman ring" is a marvelous story, a comedy of mistakes. The dying grandfather is ready to bestow his parentless granddaughter on another relative to be sure that she is protected. Both relative( grim, sarcastic, unattached ) lord Tristram and eighteen- year- old granddaughter ( French, romantic, dreaming of adventure) , agreed to the wedding. Fortunately, grandfather dying before. And both discowering their true love, helping their innocent cousin to prove that he is not a murderer and finding the talisman ring.

This ois a mesmerizing reading.
I bought this book by Ted Williams because I read his "war of the flowers"and I thought that he is one of the most important American authors of modern time.the book was great, his psychological and descriptive power beyond believe
The shadow arch was a much weaker book-too many details of the historic past, too many names and different life happening- altogether too much and somehow does not let to know and to love the hero as we do love the unknown singer Ted in the "war of the flowers"still,it,s an interesting and talented book and every lover of fantasies or simply of literature will like it.
This book is different from the majority because it is written by a talented, highly educated and knowledgable author.
