So far not effective

Completely different from its predecessors

Gym badges have been replaced by Island challenges. The most distinctive feature, however, is the fact that wild Pokemon can call for backup. This is much more challenging than 'hordes' because the 'backup' called are the on the same lv. as its buddy so you're faced with two vs one battles, which is pretty tough. On the bright side, it will help raise the level your Pokemon quicker, but it's a hindrance when trying to capture Pokemon - as you cannot throw a Pokeball in the midst of two wild Pokemon.
