The best all-around performer of 2008-9 season.
Enough said. For average people looking for a reliable, versatile point-and-shoot with the best image quality it's the best offer as of 2008-9 till the replacement, TZ-7, came out. Not a super-zoom, but 28-280mm equivalent should be enough for almost everything and the camera is light and truly compact. Leica optics delivers a very sharp image across the range, Panasonic sensor/processor - the very clean image up to the high ISO (compared to the competitors, of course - limitations of the small size sensor still apply). I keep fancy Panasonic LX-3 for myself, but my dad, my daughter, my friends - all have TZ-5 and are absolutely happy.

Too stiff - but will work fof a while
