Manfrotto Professional 40 Shoulder Bag, Black #MB MP-SB-40BB
Nov 16, 2015
Great Bag
Well constructed and hardy. Ballistic style material with a separate waterproof cover that you can put on it with you are doing outdoor photography in rainy weather and two styles of removable straps - one hand held and one over shoulder. There is also a quick access zipper from the top or the bag to reach stuff in a hurry. The basic design is typical of Manfrotto's thorough engineering with two exceptions. The inner dividers- it comes with three only - two with flaps and one without a flap. They are short. That severely limits you on the choice of interior configuration. The divider without a flap is too short on the cross span to join up the flapped dividers end to end and too short to work across the interior. As they are short - only half the height of the inner compartment - and there is no shelf/cover to top them - the top half of the compartment is wasted unless you want to use it for clothing. If not, your equipment has too much room to bounce around and you are wasting half the compartment. I could not find any Manfrotto "spare part" dividers on line to purchase separately to solve these problems. There are two side pockets but even these are badly configured. I would have preferred compartment dividers in these or smaller external compartments so I could separate separate batteries etc. All in all great construction but very poor thought process in the end users design needs.
Oscar Schmidt OG2N-A Dreadnought Size Spruce Top Steel String Acoustic Guitar

Highest Quality in it’s Class for the Price
Had a number of great guitars in the 60’s and 70’s - Fender and Martin but life took over and I stopped playing. Decided recently to start again. Looked for something good, and affordable to begin with. Washburn’s rep as a quality brand is solid and they bought Oscar Schmidt another good brand back in 2002 and positioned it as their second brand. Schmidt has been around since 1871 and was a very popular “middle” brand in the 1920’s and 1930’s. I did a lot of research and chose the Schmidt OG2 Dreadnaught. It is of laminate construction. Which is to say less expensive but still give a good sound. Spruce laminate top, Catalpa body, Mahogany neck and Rosewood fretboard, Truss rod, “newbone” nuts, saddle and pins. V heel and chrome die cast tuners. Full rosette and trim work - looks very similar to the Martin Standard construct - but at a 10th of the price. And it has a beautiful layered high gloss lacquer finish. Obviously it is not near the same playing or sound class, but it is a very good quality learning or “weekend” guitar with an excellent finish and it has a surprisingly good rich sound for the modest price. Comes with quality D’Adderio EXP coated Phosphor Bronze strings and it holds tuning well. It does not come with full set-up like the expensive guys but it is good right out of the box. They tout A full inspection including ends of the fretbars but mine were very slightly protruding and felt sharp. That does happen with the contraction of fretboard in lower humidity, typical with forced air heating and storage. The expensive guys go the extra mile with finishing for those kind of possibilities. In the end you do get what you pay for. So you can wait it out to see if the board expands and takes care any protrusion or take it into you local music store and have the guitar “set-up”. The tech will adjust everything including the string height and fretbar slope and ends, but what you get back is an optimum playing instrument. Costs around $50-80. But any acoustic under $500 will most likely have similar adjustment needs, so you are still way ahead on the overall price. Great sounding and very well constructed and nicely finished instrument at an exceptional price. Made in China, but so are models of many name brands like Yamaha, Epiphone and Fender. And no, I do not have any affiliation with Washburn or Oscar Schimdt. If you buy one you wont be sorry!!

Surprisingly Light
This cover is surprisingly lightweight for the protection it offers. I bought it because of the military grade protection it offers. Extremely strong and well constructed. A good buy for the price range.
