Clear, detailed, energetic, and tonal cables for a bargain price
These cables were bought on the basis of some reviews of British stereo gear over the years, which consistently gave the XT40s and the successor XT40i "best value" ratings. And indeed, they do deliver a lot of value for the money.
Their sound is clear, detailed, and energetic. Drum strikes have extra emphasis and attack, cymbals are incredibly pristine, and after a couple of weeks break-in, a rich midrange full of timbre and tone emerges.
Less than a week into break-in, the bass fills out and becomes richly tonal.
These even beat out my old MIT PC-squared cables that cost $350 in the early '90s, which are a technically "better" cable.
They may be technically "better", but there is no doubt in my mind the XT40i puts them to shame.
