A good back-up for my tube amp
I got this pedal to be a back up for my Crate V30 which is very Vox-like. The pedal does a good job of reproducing the sound of the V30 through a PA, so it looks like it would work as I wanted it to (but I have not yet played out with it). The only negative I have found is that it is very hissy with its gain turned up above 12 o'clock.
But a little hiss is better than an amp with a blown tube!

It's great for what it does if that's what you need!
I got on to this pedal from a Rick Beato video. He recommended it as a tool for working out scales and improvisations on chords. You hit a chord on the guitar, freeze it, and then play your scale or improvisation over it. You can kind of do the same thing with a looper, but it's more complicated. The Freeze does this well and effortlessly.
In playing live or recording, you could also use the pedal for laying down a pad.
This is a fun and enjoyable pedal, but it's pretty specialized.

Some cosmetic problems but good outweighs bad
I have always enjoyed listening to the tres on records and wanted to try one out. This one was advertised as used like new for about $30 less than new. It's hard to find a tres, so this one seemed like a good gamble, and I think it paid off - it's certainly good enough to see how the tres and I are going to get along. The good points are that the exterior is nicely finished and pretty; it has a good warm tone and is pretty loud for a small bodied instrument. The tuners are OK. On the other hand, there is excess glue on the internal braces and the edges of the sound hole are not well finished. On delivery, the strings were too high to properly intonate (everything was sharp) and it badly needed a set up. The saddle was cheap soft plastic so I had that replaced. The nut is plastic too, but OK for now - the luthier lowered it, installed a new set of La Bella tres strings (which have an octive first set rather than unison) and an end pin and strap button. It plays very nicely now, although as a guitarist, I have to get used to the wide string spacing, and of course, learn to hear the clave!
