Gunfight at the OK Corral
1 of 1 found this helpful This movie is a great example of a 1950s "A" Hollywood western. Starring Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp, Kirk Douglas as Doc Holiday and a young Dennis Hopper as one of the cowboys. With a screen play by Leon Uris and musical score by Dimitri Tiomkin and theme song sung by Frankie Lane there are no dull moments in this movie. It is just what it was made to be, a great entertaining escapist movie. Made in the day when Kirk Douglas' Holiday was about as damaged as a "hero" was allowed to be portrayed.
On the other hand if you are looking for historical accuracy, this is Hollywood, not history. This Hollywood version of the gunfight takes nearly 20 minutes and several city blocks to cover what happened in less than a minute in a vacant lot.
If you want 2 hours of exciting story, this is a good movie.
