Not as expected

Tried to track a deer, was picking up water which thought was blood. It does not pick up thermal image behind objects such as trees or bushes. I do not believe it will pick up thermal images up to 300 yards unless there are absolutely no obstructions in the way including long grasses. Did pick up thermal images within 30 yards.
