Not for cold water, didn't break up to feed the fish
1 of 1 found this helpful This says it should be at 20C on the packet to breakup.. The title of the item includes goldfish... I tried it none the less and results were very poor indeed. Luckily I had someone check the tank whilst I was away. I would avoid unless using in a tropical set up where its warmer.

Thermostat in small heater would not turn off the heat, rapid rise in temp :-(
thermostat in small heater would not turn off the heat, temp in aquarium went up rapidly as a result, was in the tank 2 days before it was binned
