Wide angle for low light by Sigma
It is not very common to find a wide angle prime lens with such an aperture of 1.8 usually reserved for the 50mm focal. Sigma as always had a good reputation of building wide angle primes with excellent sharpness and colour rendition, like the old mini wide 24 and 28mm but with a maximum aperture of 2.8. I have tried this lens on my Nikon D200 and the results are very good.Excellent definition, not too much distortion (it equates a 42mm on aps c the limit for portraits)and accurate colours. It can also be used on a full frame sensor or film cameras with even better results. Beeing a D lens it can be used with most Nikon film cameras from F2 onwards in every camera mode. Its compact, accepts cheap size filters and focus at close range. If you want better the price will also be 3 times more....

Best 56mm 1.2 lens
1 of 1 found this helpful The fuji 56mm 1.2 is a special lens. I have tested many 1.2 lenses and i can assure that even at 1.2 this lens is sharper than most lenses at 1.4 or less. The price to pay is high but image quality is the best i have seen

good lens but not perfect
The Sigma %0mm 1.4 is an impressive lens for its weight and dimension of the front optics (77mm dia). Autofocus is very fast and silent. Using at 1.4 and 1.8 the lens is soft, although usable if the focus is right. You can see better improvements at F2 and between F2 and F4 the lens performs very well.
A bit expensive compared to its similar Nikon brothers 50mm 1.4 afd and afs.
