Decent History but campy "acting" especially on Crusade DVD
By way of full disclosure I've only sampled the Crusades and Agincourt DVDs so I still need to watch the Wars of the Roses DVD.
By way of quick comment on Crusades and Agincourt - generally speaking the history is good. One can quibble with an issue here or there (e.g., the Agincourt DVD reports a ratio of French to English higher than I believe a consensus of historians currently believes is true) but I repeat, the history is reasonably well done. On the occasions where maps / illustrations are used these are generally effective.
Both DVDs employ "actors" for some of the famous people present to help tell the story. This is where neither DVD shines. The Crusades portrayal of Richard I, Saladin, and others is cheesy almost to the point of spoof. They were astute enough to give Richard a French accent (French was still spoken in England and his parents were from regions of what became France) but that's about the only positive thing to say. To be fair things improved with the portrayal of the Agincourt players. (These DVDs were not originally released as a package of three so maybe the producers got feedback that the Crusades actors were over the top and toned it down a little bit!)
So a bottom line recommendation is a bit rough. The paradox I see is that if you are interested in medieval combat enough to spend the $$ for these DVDs there's a good chance you are already knowledgeable enough about the subject matter so that you will not learn much new.

Behind all the shock and awe there's a very good movie
I already had the "Version you've never seen" but wanted the original film from 1973. This is it and it doesn't disappoint. The Exorcist is very well known for spinning heads and green slime but beyond that there is quite a good movie exploring multiple themes - evil and why evil, the limitations of science/medicine's ability to explain everything and the unwillingness of scientists/doctors to admit to this, faith lost (and perhaps found again), etc.
This deserves its place as one of the best horror films of all time.
As an aside, the extra features are enjoyable, too.

Very Good Old Fashion Ghost Story
(Alert - Vague plot spoiler)
I'd seen this movie very favorably recommended in multiple forums. It took me awhile, but I finally landed a copy on VHS (couldn't find a Region 1 DVD).
The story proceeds at a slow, steady pace which I prefer in horror movies. I'd seen the 2012 version of this story a couple of times, and it was nice to see significant changes in the plot between the two versions so the suspense in this one held up well. This version was generally less explicit than the 2012 version with regard to what was shown when and that played nicely. I will say the famous "jump scare" scene in this version was a shock but slightly disappointing. I'm by no means a movie making expert, but I believe the scene would have been scarier if filmed in different lighting and less close up. Like the 2012 version, things do not end well in this one but in an entirely different manner.
The acting and technical aspects of the movie are both strong. Given the age of the movie (1989) and VHS tapes in general, I was a little concerned about how the audio and video quality of the VHS tape would be, but both were very good.
If you like slowly unfolding ghost stories, highly recommend.
