OK for the price but..

..when is that toxic rubbery smell going to go away? I have used this four times so far and it still gives off a chemical smell which is apparently the protective coating which has to be "conditioned" by turning the unit on full power for 5 minutes the first time it is used. I wonder what it is that I'm breathing in. It takes a very long time to get a pan of water to simmering temperature and it makes me wonder if the thermostat has been set up right from the factory as even on the top setting it clicks itself off every 10 seconds or so and then clicks itself back on again. It's ok if you just want to warm up soup or simmer something but for quickly boiling water get a kettle instead.

They don't last.

I don't know what the problem is with these bulbs but they don't last anywhere near what they claim. They are worse than the worst regular bulbs I ever bought. I'm going through them like a box of fireworks. Last week I had one of these blow after one day which was a replacement for another that was in for less than a week. it can't have been on more than about 5 hours in total and was probably switched on and off no more than 8 times. Just the slightest knock can kill these things. I'm going to start using candles if this keeps up. Really disappointing. I hate the cold light that LEDs produce and the old incandescent bulbs have been outlawed now.
