The Bionic iPod
1 of 1 found this helpful A few years ago the hard drive on my Ipod mini crashed. After some searching on the internet, I found that the mechanical hard drive could be replaced with a Compact Flash card. I installed it and brought my iPod back to life.
After the new "drive" was installed, there continued to be a problem with the unit charging the battery; the battery didn't want to hold a charge. It was no issue to keep it plugged up all the time so it never bothered me.
Well, 2 weeks ago, the unit started getting flaky and would unexpectedly reboot. Eventually, I could not get it to power up so I ordered this replacement board. When I received the replacement, I installed it and the and the iPod would boot up and charged the battery as it should! Fortunately, I did NOT have any problems with my screen. Unfortunately, in all the troubleshooting, the click wheel connector got damaged so I had to order another click wheel as well.
So, I now have a completely recycled bionic Ipod; none of the internal components are the originals.
If you have similar issues, I recommend getting this board. There are many tutorials on line how to open the Ipod mini and remove the components (Google "I Fix It Ipod Mini" as a starting point). Once you know the tricks, it's not that difficult...just be EXTREMELY careful with the click wheel connector!

Exactly what was needed!
Exactly what I needed. Had a power switch go bad on a device and now can use this to turn it on/off instead. Works well and was shipped quickly!
