Great low-buck light, a bit power-hungry.

This is a very bright and handy light for the money. Runs on six AA batteries, the lens adapter rings work perfectly. Of course, you can use it off-lens; tripod sockets on the light itself and on the power pack. Variable brightness, which I didn't realize before buying. Saves battery power when less light is needed. Only downside is power usage. It's a bit picky about batteries. I tried six AA NiMH batteries, and I couldn't turn the brightness up very far. NiMH batteries naturally run at lower voltage than Alkalines (1.2V vs. 1.5V), and some electronic devices are sensitive to that. This is one of them. I Also, it's a bit power hungry. Don't expect hours of on-time on a set of batteries. Turn it off for long pauses between shots/setups. Otherwise, a handy and pretty powerful light for a bargain. No one seeing your photos has to know you lit the subject with a $20-ish light!
