Great Product if you Know What you Are Doing
After several hours I was able to get this device flashed with custom firmware and acting as a file server for someone to use with Windows File History via OpenWRT, and it comes somewhat close to pegging a 100Mbit wired connection. I can't comment on the quality of the wifi, as I'm using it in a wired configuration. For the money and what you get this is a huge value.
Of course there are always catches... the instructions are purely in Chinese so they won't help you. The device does not come with a power supply (you'll need something that can push 2 amps over USB). The stock firmware is extremely spartan. You'll have to Google for the password (on mine it was kimax for the stock interface). The power button is weird in that you hold it for 1 second to use as a power bank, 2 seconds for an external HDD, and 3 seconds for a network disk.
If you can overcome these obstacles to get a generic LEDE/OpenWRT installation on it though you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Decent Dual Band Adapter for Linux
1 of 1 found this helpful I use this Adapter on my Raspberry Pi, and it works well for OpenWRT in both client and AP modes. It's one of the very few dual band USB adapters that is supported by the mainline Linux kernel (it's an Ralink chip using the rt2x00 modules).
Note that the description commonly calls this a wireless AC adapter. Note that it is NOT 802.11ac. It only supports a/b/g/n, but on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I have yet to confirm if this is dual stream.
