Great attention to detail
I was assigned to the 70th Armor in Germany in 1967 and spent a lot of time at Fort Knox training to be a Tank Platoon leader.
It is refreshing to watch a movie that did its homework and no doubt had WWll vets helping them. Life inside a tank is very close and the action is fast and no pun intended furious. The even used the M3 submachine gun which we called grease gun. It was small and we had 2 of them in our tank + all 4 of us carried a 45 cal pistol in shoulder holsters. Lots of bad things can happen when you turn the turret so you don’t need holsters to get stuck.
The only Hollywood moment was Brad Pitt using the fifty cal machine gun at the end of the movie. He shot about 250 to 300 rounds without reloading. The ammo box on his tank was 100 rounds.
Nevertheless the movie showed the horrors of war in a realistic manner.
