This USB microscope is poorly engineered. The foremost problem with it is the focusing. When focusing in on the subject you normally go a bit passed 'in focus' and then dial back for clarity. This unit, when you have gone a shade beyond in focus and you dial back, you wind up dialing back to where you started instead of the wee bit beyond that you went, before you find focus again. Then if you don't trust it, you go a shade beyond focus and as you dial back, you dial clear back to where your earlier focus was. The moral of the story is - this is a very difficult unit to focus.
A spec I should have noticed, or paid more attention to is that it only produces 640 x 480 images. I would have gladly passed this unit by in favor of a microscope that produced 1280 x 960 images.
One other thing, I'm on a Mac computer and there isn't software available that will enable the shutter release on the cable - no physical snapshot button, you must keyboard the snapshot which can be awkward, holding your shot and then finding the keyboard and then the key combo for a snapshot.
