great sound... if you fix it a bit
first, let me get it out of the way that I am by no means an audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound quality and so... that's my perspective. I got these and almost cried... I had never experienced music like that before. a wider sound stage, clarity, detail and sharpness, and overall just awesome... until you realize just how dead they sound. now, they are neutral... very very neutral, but unless that's what you want and you're dead set on, you're going to want to eq them. to describe them before the eq I would have to say they were, in a word, recessed. the vocals felt far away and like there was a sheet of paper or something separating you from them. the bass was almost non existent, and even instruments didn't have that "punch" that they normally do. so... I boosted the lower frequencies by about a decible, messed around with the mids a bit to get them sounding not super recessed and was able to bring a sense of life back to them. with the eq, they are the most detailed, best sounding headphones I have ever listened to. now, keep in mind I have never spent over $70 on a pair of headphones, and have primarily listened to wireless headphones up to this point, so it's not like someone who used to use a pair of sennheiser he-1's is saying that... but to me, someone who had never really listened to nice headphones before, they were great. bass: not a ton, but compared to what I am used to, lots of detail in the bass that is there mids: clear present and pretty darn good with the eq highs: good: not bad at all and not fatiguing to listen to at all build and comfort build: not great. pretty much all plastic and honestly feels like I could snap them pretty easily. BUT what can I say for $50? costs had to be cut somewhere comfort: headband is awesome! it does a great job of distributing the weight (which isn't that much due to the plastic build,) and the pads aren't the worst thing ever once they're broken in. overall, not terrible but by no means a super comfortable pair of headphones. conclusion: I would highly reccomend these to someone as their introduction to better audio, especially at the $50 I picked them up for. as long as you keep in mind that the sound isn't the most fun, especially out of the box, and the build isn't great... overall good product though!
