Built to Last Panasonic Cassette Recorder and Player
This Panasonic cassette recorder works wonderfully. It was made back in the day when things were built to last!! When my original recorder died after being used for over 25 years, I sought to replace it as I was not finished with my project which required the use of a cassette recorder. I shopped around online and made a selection of a model that seemed to be recommended without costing hundreds of dollars -- Jensen MCR-100. I picked it up from WalMart -- brand new.. Unfortunately, it died on day 94 and the warranty was for only 90 days. It no longer would record which was the whole purpose for this purchase. I would suggest all avoid the current Jensen models of cassette recorders.
This used Panasonic cassette player that I am reviewing is a great recorder -- the recordings are very audible. It also has a counter which I appreciate and is missing on newer models. I am recording phone conversations with my elderly parents who live out of state, and then I transcribe our conversations as I am writing their life stories. This Panasonic cassette recorder works perfectly for this project. I highly recommend this older brand as very reliable compared to the "hunks of junk" being built new these days.

Recording Life Histories
I have been using these tapes for several years to record my parents' life histories. They are in their early nineties and live in California & I live in Utah so we found recording our phone conversations on these cassette tapes has been a great way to go. I try to record one side of a tape each week (45 minutes) and then get it transcribed before we talk again. These cassettes have worked perfectly for this purpose.
