This movie has been a staple in my Blu-Ray library for years. I watch it every Halloween and Christmas (and usually a few times in between). I'd say that over 85% of 3D movies are on the gimmicky side. I'd read that Nightmare Before Christmas was one of the exceptions. They weren't wrong! I was surprised at how well the conversion opened up the film. In my opinion it rivals films that were shot in 3D. Even though I'd seen this movie well over 50 times on video I was able to better detect the marriage of elements used to create the film such as a matte painting in the background of a diorama. And rather than ruin the magic of the film it brought it more to life. Christmas Town and Halloween Town were even more vibrant than before. I felt the same leap of discovery watching this version that I did when I went from the DVD to 2D Blu-Ray. If you love this movie you'd do well to add this to your library.
