Beautiful love story
If you read the first chapter you will want to finish the book. Not only is this a beautiful love story, it also brings to light inhuman...and human...treatment of horses. Do not let the movie - if you watched it - influence you. This book is so much more than the movie.

Relatable to anyone growing up black in America
Child abuse, racism, neglect, and insanity are some of the story lines in this book. You will be sucked into the story set in an era when children are the focus of anyone's attention. Just not sure that the author knew what to do with such strong themes. I was left wanting a stronger ending.
