I'll keep using the Sansa clip, but I wish I could find another Rio Ca
I bought this because I couldn't find any Rio Carbons (which I have used and loved for the last 5 years). I went with the Sansaclip because it was in my price range and it got a good review on Cnet. So far though, it has proven to be a bit frustrating:
1. Volume can't be adjusted- there is low and high settings. I find this to be absurd. How could you not have full volume control??? The settings are acceptable.
2. Battery life is no 15 hours as they advertise. It dies after about 7; even when just using the radio. I have set all the settings to conserve power, so perhaps it is due to having the full 8 gigs are loaded with tunes.
On the other hand, it sounds really good, and the interface is clean and logical. I use it with Winamp; I haven't installed Rhapsody as is suggested...maybe it will be a better experience?
I use my music player all day every day, and it is subjected to dust and dampness (I install ceramic tile) The Rio's took it well, I don't know how the SC will do.
3 stars out of 5 for the Sansaclip!
REVISED on 9-10-2011:
I am an idiot- I just noticed that indeed, there are volume buttons...D'OH!
Battery life is still not great, but I am more pleased than before...

Does it's job- GREAT player for the money!
2 of 2 found this helpful This player does it's job, but you must remember it's not an HTPC. The streaming functions for Netflix are great, but you will definitely miss the flexibility of navigating YouTube with a real browser. However, the set-up is easy, and connected to my WAN without issue. The playback of video files off external drives and r/rw discs is reliable, but if you have an extensive and deep multi-directory mp3 collection it can be kind of lumbering. Also there is no app for organizing music, and no shuffle function. Also be advised that SEN seems to have dropped VTuner, which I wanted for streaming terrestrial radio.
It can be slow, but like I said- not and HTPC- nor is it as powerful as a higher end model with a faster processor, or a ROKU 3, I would wager. If you don't expect a Camry to perform like a Benz, then you won't be disappointed. ;)

GREAT FOR ITS PRICE RANGE
basic audio interface that more than serves my minimal needs: guitar and bass practicing with amp simulator software, jamming with youtube, etc.
