So far I like this coffee maker a lot
So far I like this coffee maker a lot, using it daily for about 2 months. It makes very good coffee, lets you to choose a few custom brews, makes great iced coffee in a few minutes (!) and espresso-like "specialty" brew. I've tried different coffee from Keurig machines - disposable pods and reusable - and Ninja makes much better coffee and gives more options than any Keurig single serve. It also comes with built-in powered frother and drip-stop functions is nice. No complaints about actual coffee it makes, 5 stars, especially for over-the-ice and specialty brews!
But there're few construction issues I would easily overlook if this coffee maker wouldn't cost over one hundred bucks - for this price I believe coffee maker should be flawless to deserve true 5 stars.
So, here are the cons:
1) Brewed coffee volume is way off the stated amounts. Manual says regular travel mug setting will brew 14oz of coffee - wrong. Mine brews about 16.5 oz, I measured it a few times, as a result any standard 16 oz travel mug either fills up to the top so you can't put a lid on it either spills over when brewing is almost done. Why do I need travel mug setting if it doesn't fit in any standard travel mug? By the way XL cup is supposed to brew 11.5 oz but mine actually brews about 13 oz. Idk if my unit calibration is way off or other units brew wrong amount of coffee as well, but anyway it's not convenient to guess every time if my coffee will fit into the mug I want to use or not.
2) Folding cup plate is too low. Even with a big ceramic 14 oz coffee mugs there is about an inch between cup rim and drip hole and it's even more with smaller cups what causing splashing little bits of coffee around every time you brew a cup. Also this folding plate is a real pain to clean in all of the grooves if you spill some coffee over it, not very practical design.
