Banana by Dan Koeppel (2007, Hardcover)

I realize the author put considerable effort into researching this book, but I wonder if he really got his facts completely straight. Are there really so few banana cultivars left that the demise of the Cavendish means increased hunger worldwide? And can genetic engineering truly solve the problem? Worth learning more, and quickly, since the welfare of so many is at stake.

And I intend be doing CCR instead of CPR, should the need arise. The politics of medicine is scary, and we need to address this both as a society and as individuals. Highly recommended!
