Not sure about this Asus Flip Book yet
0 of 2 found this helpful Just got the Asus Transformer Flip Book, so it is too early to say whether it will meet my needs. I will update review after I've used it a while, but I needed to write now to see if someone can answer a very key question, and to mention a few things you should think about if you're considering buying this.
Key question, will this charger work fine overseas like most 110/240 computer chargers with just the foreign adapter??? Or will I need to get a converter that I've never needed before with my tech gear? It says 110/240 on it, but doesn't have the two separate sections like most do. This charger seems cheap compared to most you would get with a decent tablet or laptop. Maybe I can try one of my other netbook or laptop chargers that work fine and see if they'll work on this.
Think about whether you are replacing a tablet or laptop when you purchase this. I really only wanted a faster 7 or 8" tablet to sit with on the sofa, we have a laptop and desktop. Since I will be taking it on an overseas trip I thought being a little larger and having the keyboard might be nice, so decided to give it a try. This is BIG so if you really only want a nice little Tablet to use on the sofa, you might try something else.
This unit is pretty slow. Not sure it is any faster than my 3 year old android Asus Tablet I was replacing. Everything is quad core now, I was appalled when I missed that this is only dual core, it's right there in the specs, but having researched various options for a month and everything being quad core, I guess I stopped reading some of the detail. With this unit, I was excited about the flip and the keyboard being connected and missed some details. I love having the touch screen it should be great on our trip.
Unlike most tech gear that has non-glare matte screens, this screen is shiny and all glare. I read all the reviews I could find on this unit ahead of time but never read about this issue which will be a pain when we're overseas trying to read or search in the sun or poor light as we move around. I keep pulling at the edges of the screen thinking maybe there's some protector sheet causing this because as I said, the other reviewers I read didn't mention it.
I wanted the Win 10 on this to force myself to get used to it. Our hardly used desktop had Win 8, then 8.1 and now Win 10, I still hate it even though it is a huge improvement over the 8's (I have Win 7 at work and on laptop). Having the Win 10 on this should force me to master it, assuming I use this Flipbook.
Good luck! I'll update review after I've used it a while.
