Quality issues
1 of 1 found this helpful If you're like me, and you're out there scouring eBay fort the cheapest version of whatever you need that day, then that's what brought you to this. I'd advise you to take a minute and read this before you buy it.
The antenna itself is actually a good piece. Nice feel, appearance and quality. I haven't tested it with a radio yet, so I can't speak to transmit/receive capability - needless to say I'm hoping for at least average performance based on how nice the antenna looks and is built. The antenna mount isn't bad, the connectors where the antenna screws into has quality that matches the antenna.
The coax is useless. The connectors are so cheaply designed and built that they won't screw onto any CB I had lying around. They slide right over the threads - literally will not tighten. The connectors on the coax are made from what has got to be the thinnest, lowest quality metal that they have in China. It's like paper. The threads are the wrong pitch and size for any CB that you probably own. I will have to now buy another length of coax and hope that the one I buy threads onto the connector that came with this antenna, or I will have to buy another connector.
Bottom line - it's the cheapest Chinese version of these kits you'll find on eBay and you get what you pay for. I'd put down another ten bucks or so and buy something of better quality. For what you're spending here, you're basically only getting the antenna. Buyer beware.
