Can't be mounted on Marlin .22

I bought this scope to mount on my Marlin Model 800 .22. The rifle was for my son. It was my rifle as a kid and it was given to me by my dad as my first rifle. I was giving it to my son. Unfortunately, the scope could not be mounted to my rifle, despite the description that says it can. In the process of trying to make it fit I scratched and damaged the rifle. The scope is cheaply made and I would not recommend it to anyone. Then again it was cheap..... You get what you pay for.
