sony older cams.
2 of 2 found this helpful Camcorders changes features even faster than we change clothes these days, and for most buyers you would know that we are as far as Flash memory and high definition.But 3 main features has kept me from running the modern or up-to date race.And it is found mainly in sony technology.(1)Manual exposure control,that is at your finger tips.You can control your exposure with sony older cameras,by the touch of a button and the turn of the wheel,and immediately fix your exposure.Other company cameras rarely have the feature, and when they do,you have to fish in a menu,that locks it one place and by the time it's set the action is long gone.(2) the other thing is Zoom.Regardless to how much resolution a camera has; I hate not to have at least a 20x on the optical side.(3) The next most essential thing is LUX rating.regardless to how much resolution a camera has, if the lux is not down to 1 or 0.4 when six o'clock comes you have to park that camera up unless you have a decent video light.So that is the reason why regardless to what comes new on the market of camcorders I am forced to still shoot with a hi8 or digital 8 with the above features until a modern camera is proven to be able to do the same.So I am forced to love this backward model in sony.My only dislike is not with the retailer but with the manufactuer.SONY needs to consider,the above in it's new models.Of why I decide to buy it;until sony puts these features in the new camera,I always have to search for a back-up one of these to keep my night photography going.Example of what I am describing: Could you imagine video-ing a concert,you didn't get a front seat,and you got this high resolution high definition cam,but the zoom is only 10x,and then the light changes but the manual exposure is buried in the menu and you have to fight to get there.and when you do, you lost the shot and it's locked one way so you still have to turn it back where it was.and then the resolution high but the lux is 5 or 10 so you can't get a crowd shot or shoot nothing at Fore-day morning until the sun comes up.So again,this Is why I can't go Mini DV or high def. yet. Therefore, even if you get a high def. for the day,make sure you keep one of sony older cameras for the evening;unless you have the ability to tote around a lot of portable light.Until sony corrects this,I will always seek one of their older cameras.

Needs outdoor lighting capability
1 of 1 found this helpful I haven't tested all the features because my main interest was the NOTES reading. It seems to work pretty okay in that respect. My only draw back is that it seems like you must always be indoors to work with it because the LCD panel is not outdoor friendly. Therefore I am now searching for something else because I am not always indoors; I am sometimes outdoors under a cool tree.
