Definitely the only drill paddle to buy for cement mixing
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm in my mid 70s now and decided on my latest building project that I'd pick the lazy way of mixing cement and ditch the spade. At first I bought a couple of lightweight paint/plaster/cement mixer paddles for my drill. In my photo, the yellow one is new and unused and the centre one was an identical but bare metal version of the yellow one. It can be seen that apart from the cement coating, the difference is that the flimsy mixing blade has been wrapped tightly round the shaft by the torque of the drill and the resistance of the cement. It ended up in this mangled state after mixing the first batch but was still usable enough until the new purchase arrived. Then it went in the bin. I have used a similar previous one for mixing paint and it did the job okay.
The heavy duty one is really not expensive yet is built to last a lifetime. It is chromed and of welded construction and will fit in either a standard chuck or an SDS fitting. Out of curiosity I weighed them. The one more suited to paint stirring weighted 222gms this HD one weighed 684gms.
Two other winning features are that firstly the shape means that it can mix into the bottom edge of a tub while the other will leave a ring of unmixed material. Secondly, the finish and shape mean that after leaving it a short while after use, it can be wiped clean with a rag.
Get one, you'll be very happy you did.

They do the job for me
I use one of these on a timer. It is on for five hours a day. The problem with them is that they have a pretty unsatisfactory life span. Some will last a few weeks and others a few months. Recommended only because they fill my need for a low wattage filament lamp.

Effective and inexpensive
After having arranged a few days touring by car in Wales I became a bit worried about my decision when I found that increasingly I was suffering from quite severe seating discomfort after as little as thirty minutes behind the wheel. I decided to try one of these cushions as it appeared to be of very similar construction to considerably more expensive ones. I was very pleased with the results. My longest uninterrupted drive was for approaching two hours and that was done without any significant discomfort.
There isn't anything that I would describe as a problem with the cushion, but being loose it did move around on the car's leather seat when getting in and out. Consequently before starting off, wriggling it into the most comfortable position is required. Once in place, it remained perfectly stable while driving. I did find, as a bonus, that the slightly extra height that it gave me, improved the driving position in a way that the car's various seat adjustments could not. I was very pleased with the purchase as having taken the break without it would have been less enjoyable.
