Not an efficient dehydrator
3 of 3 found this helpful This product uses a different heating method than the FD-1010. The FD-1040 is a top-down heated dehydrator where the FD-1010 heats from the bottom. The result is a less (or poorer) heat transfer to the trays which means that it takes considerably more time to dry tray foods. Both are rated at 1000 watts.
