No fuss, no muss. Good shellac flakes.
These shellac flakes dissolved well according to the mixing instructions from WellerMart. I used Klean Strip Green denatured alcohol, gradually stirred in the prescribed amount of flakes for a 2# cut, did no pre-grinding of the flakes before mixing, then shook the mixture in a sealed jar. The flakes were visibly dissolved after about 8 hrs--shaking every hour or so. I used the mix the next day and it brushed out very evenly through the three coats I applied to a pine box I had built. I used a cheap hake brush, which held a decent amount of shellac to allow long even brush strokes. It buffed out silkily smoothly with 0 steel wool and paste wax. No clumps. It handled exactly as I expected. It barely tinted the long grain surfaces, but it made the end grain stand out nicely on my dovetails.
