"Boom!" by Tom Brokaw
great book for anyone who lived through the '60's, or anyone who did not. It is a snapshot of many of the events that were happening in the "background" while we were growing up. I was politically active, but really did not know all the machinations that were going on in the government and in the social and economic world while we were trying to fix the world with peace and love, Yes, I am an aging hippie. Now hat it is 40 years later, things are being revealed that kicked off so many things that were happening in the Civil Rights movement, Vietnam, at home and inthe work places. The women's movement, civil rights and so many others that came together like "the Perfect Storm" at a time when we were asking questions like "Are you Beatles or Beach Boys" and deciding whether we wanted our boyfriends to have jacked up cars or low riders. I was in southern California and thse events happened in my own backyard, acros the country and certainly around the world. I recommended this book to my book club members and most of us really enjoyed it. We are a pretty international group so it was a great history lesson - we lived - through. Especially our Canadian and Swiss members who did not live in the US got a great glimpse of a most interesting time in history. Great and easy read although it is a thick book. Highly recommend.
