Helpful when used.
I had to buy the book for a class. We honestly didn't use it that much because the class was more activity-oriented, but from what I saw when we used it, it was helpful for conducting patterns.

Useful to anyone taking basic physical science course
I wouldn't say I love the book or hate it because I honestly get more use out of lecture notes than out of textbook readings; however, when I did use the book it did give me a very detailed answer to most any question I had. The book covers all areas of Physical Oceanography territory from Astronomy to Ocean Currents. There were a few times when my professor said the author was either wrong or a tad bit off in his information/statements, but for the most part was correct.
